Society in the Anthropocene - Cabot Institute, University of Bristol

While the physical and natural sciences offer clear contributions to understanding the Anthropocene - the geological age in which humans are the dominant force shaping the planet - the role and value of the social sciences in understanding this agenda have been little explored.

The Cabot Institute will host a major international conference - Society in the Anthropocene – on 24 and 25 June 2013, to address and discuss these questions across the social science disciplines.

Prof. Elinor Ostrom International Fellowship on Practice and Policy on Commons - Results Announced

The International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) and Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) are pleased to share the results of the 'Prof. Elinor Ostrom International Fellowship on Practice and Policy on Commons 2013'. The fellowships are a tribute to Prof. Elinor Ostrom, who passed away in 2012, after decades of invaluable contribution to the analysis of economic governance, especially the Commons. The fellowships are action-focused and aimed at bringing together ideas and experiences of practical strategies for securing the commons and commoners rights across the world.

Special Issue on Latin American Commons by the Journal of Latin American Geography

IASC is very glad to announce that the Journal of Latin American Geography has published a special issue on Latin American Commons. This special issue features the work of several of IASC members interested in how Latin American commons are used and governed.
