LANDac – the Netherlands Academy on Land Governance for Equitable and Sustainable Development – brings together researchers, policy makers, development practitioners and business professionals in the field of land governance and development. With a focus on new pressures and competing claims on land and natural resources, the LANDac network conducts research, disseminates information, and organizes courses and training. Our guiding question is how to optimize the link between land governance, sustainable development and poverty alleviation.

Spring Issue 2016 of International Journal of the Commons out now!

The International Journal of the Commons has issued its Spring Issue of 2016. This issue contains over a dozen of research articles, related to the governance on a wide range of resources all over the world: from Alpine meadows in Italy to public open spaces in Malaysia and from firewood in Northern Argentina to the floodplains of Zambia.

The new issue of the International Journal of the Commons will be officially launched at the 4th European IASC-Conference in Bern, 10-13 May 2016

IASC endorses the Global Call to Action on Indigenous and Community Land Rights

The global call to action is a campaign of the Rights and Resources Initiative and multiple partners to support the communal land rights of indigenous people and communities. The campaign calls for doubling the land area legally recognized as owned or controlled by indigenous people and communities by 2020. On the 8th of march 2016, the International Association for the Commons endorsed and signed the "Global Call to Action on Indigenous and Community Land Rights" in The Hague, together with more than 300 organizations worldwide.

Call for Contributions to Practitioners' Labs 4th European IASC-Conference (Bern, 10-13 May 2016) - deadline 1 April 2016

In order to promote meetings between academic scholars and expert practitioners to exchange their experience, ideas and questions with the academic scholars working on commons, the IASC now issues a call directed specifically at practitioners working on commons.In the past, practitioners’ meetings have been organized at several IASC-conferences, offering an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise between practitioners and academic scholars interested in commons.

The Council of the Elinor Ostrom Award has opened the call to nominate outstanding scholars or practitioners in the field of commons to receive the Elinor Ostrom Award on Collective Governance of the Commons.
