In accordance with IASC’s bylaws, the new IASC Council has started office on January 15, 2019.
Change of presidency
As the IASC Presidency is based on a 2-year term, previous President-Elect Marco Janssen has started office as current President of the IASC. At the same time, John Powell has assumed the position of Immediate Past-President. New to the presidential board is Insa Theesfeld, who has been elected as President-Elect at the recent Council Elections and who already has been a Council Member over the past few years.
Tine De Moor, long-standing member of the IASC Council, co-founder of the International Journal of the Commons, and organizer of IASC2017, has left the IASC Council at the same date, as she has reached her maximum term as Council Member. The IASC Council wishes to express its gratitude to Tine for her work and efforts for the IASC over the past years.
Three new Council Members
The IASC Council gladly welcomes the newly elected IASC Council Members, Esther Mwangi, Makoto Inoue, and Beril Ocakli. Beril is also the first Student Council Member, a position recently created after approval by the membership to strengthen the position of an connection with junior researchers in the field of commons research.
With welcoming our new Council Members, we also had to see Sheila Foster leave the IASC Council, as she also had served the maximum term of her Council Membership. The IASC Council also thanks Sheila very much for her participation over the last years, especially for the well-organized kick-off conference of the WorldCommonsWeek 2018 in October 2018.
