Early Career Scholars are engaging with the study of commons in a variety of new ways both
theoretically and methodologically. This field has gained significant importance in addressing
the challenges of sustainable development and effective resource management. In light of
these developments, this workshop aims to bring together early career researchers of the
IASC-ECN, practitioners, IASC academicians and senior scholars from the field to
exchange knowledge, discuss emerging trends, mentor and foster collaborations in this
domain. The online workshop aims to provide a platform for early career scholars and
professionals to present and discuss their research, ideas, experiences related to commons,
and to seed working groups within the ECN network. The workshop will be conducted with a
strong emphasis on pastoral and mentoring support provided through the involvement of
senior scholars who directly engage with each submission and its broad theme. Through our
workshop, we aim to pioneer the development of new thematics within the study of the
commons, facilitate knowledge exchange, and seed new working groups within the ECN.
Further, depending upon the nature of the submissions we receive, their quality, and the
nature of dialogues generated at the workshop, we are exploring a special issue together with
The International Journal of the Commons (IJC).
