The IASC is the leading professional association dedicated to the commons. The association, founded in 1989, is devoted to bringing together multi-disciplinary researchers, practitioners, and policymakers for the purpose of improving governance and management, advancing understanding, and creating sustainable solutions for commons, common-pool resources, or any other form of shared resource.
The IASC aims to:
– encourage exchange of knowledge among diverse disciplines, areas, and resource types
– foster mutual exchange of scholarship and practical experience
– promote appropriate institutional design
IASC President Insa Theesfeld takes on new role as Interim Director of the Commons Governance Program at the Ostrom Workshop
Prof. Insa Theesfeld took over the position of the Interim Director of the Commons Governance Program at the Ostrom Workshop in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. The Ostrom Workshop was founded almost 50 year ago by Nobel laureate Elinor Ostrom and her husband Vincent. It is located in the center of the Indiana University campus in Bloomington. This interdisciplinary university research and teaching institute has been named “Workshop” to stress its interactive nature based on various international and national exchanges and visits, related to commons and resource governance research.
